Neural/AI Artist Sophia Crespo, widely known for her AI lifeform-based artwork is debuting her first solo exhibition “Brief Histories of Simulated Lifeforms” curated by Jesse Damiani & Sinziana Velicescu at Vellum LA digital art gallery on July 21, 2022. The artwork collection will later be sold as an NFT on the SuperRare marketplace.
Digital art has become a valuable digital asset to own in the 21st century. NFTs or non-fungible tokens have empowered various noteworthy digital artists to showcase and have full digital ownership over their work; something which is quite challenging in the traditional art world due to third-party involvement.
Some of the well-known artists who found their place in the NFT world include Beeple, FEWOCiOUS, José Delbo, Damien Steven Hirst, and many more. Their artworks are sold on NFT art marketplaces, SuperRare being the most popular place for art NFTs.
SuperRare has been empowering various artists by using its platform to create a community that is rich in art, culture, and global diversity.
Unlike other marketplaces like OpenSea, SuperRare only lists artists that have authentic artwork and have the capability to revolutionize the art world to maintain its authenticity in the Web3 space.

Sophia Crespo presents Brief Histories of Simulated Lifeforms
Sophia Crespo is a popular neural artist widely known for portraying AI-based stimulated lifeforms. She is deeply interested in biological-inspired technologies and integrates them into her digital art as well. She’s also the co-founder of Entangled Others Studio.
Crespo is debuting her first solo exhibition called Brief Histories of Simulated Lifeforms at Vellum LA, a digital art gallery.
The exhibition portrays digital generative art drawn by Crespo that explores Artificial Intelligence and algorithms in regard to “biology, nature, and evolution of fresh eyes.” Crespo breaks the stereotypical aspect of AI from machines and hardware into eco-friendly and biological-inspired technology.
According to the official press release, “Crespo’s artistic explorations of simulated life bring the organic into the digital. Her work not only helps viewers imagine what kind of speculative lifeforms might one day populate the metaverse, it also holds a mirror back to the biological world of the here and now…”
Compared to the common thought that metaverse, artificial intelligence, and NFTs are disrupting the biological ecosystem, Crespo shows how technology and biology can co-exist together through her art.
“Crespo looks at the similarities between the techniques of AI image formation, and the way that humans express themselves creatively, and cognitively recognize their world.”
Her artwork has already been displayed in Nvidia’s GTC AI Gallery, Ars Electronica Gallery Spaces Garden, MAXXI, and other places.
Crespo will first hold a physical exhibition where all the artwork will be displayed on state-of-the-art Luma Canvas LED displays set to go live from July 21 till August 7, 2022.
Stimulated lifeforms as NFTs
Crespo has been featured by Meta IA as an authentic artist of the future.
Through her artwork, She shows the positive side of metaverse and NFTs and reminds people of the existing lifeforms around them in a technology-centric world.
SuperRare recognizes the potential and powerful message showcased in Crespo’s artwork. According to the official announcement, After the solo exhibition, the artwork will be transformed into NFTs and sold on SuperRare for global sale.
“Brief Histories draws artworks from two bodies of Crespo’s work: Artificial Natural History and Sediment Nodes,” the official post on Vellum LA read.
“The former is framed as a “book that never was,” offering a collection of botanical and zoological observations of speculative life. The latter turns its focus toward sediment, exploring the “interconnections of what we assume inert,” even though floating particulate matter in liquid signals movement, and is itself “full of life, color and form.”
As of now, SuperRare hasn’t released many details on Sophia Crespo’s NFT collection. The tickets to see the physical exhibition of “Brief Histories of Simulated Lifeforms: A Sofia Crespo Solo Exhibition” at Vellum LA are available on Eventbrite for free. Register for the exhibition here.
