The Monitoring community of Ethereum Name Service ENS collectively voted to remove one of its core members. Brantley Millegan was a senior and a core member of ENS. However, recently Brantley was removed over his transphobic tweets.
According to reports, Millegan tweeted in 2016 about his “anti-LGBTQ” views. The tweet resurfaced again and caused a mess for the former ENS member. ENS is a project of Ethereum that provides a domain name to a wallet. Brantley is now removed from his post as director of operations of DAO.
Brantley’s Anti-LGBTQ Remarks
The tweet represents remarks stating that homosexuality is evil and people involve in homosexuality are sinful. Moreover, the tweet also covers transgenderism, abortion, contraception, and masturbation or porn. Brantley Millegan tweeted, “homosexual acts are evil. Transgenderism doesn’t exist. Abortion is murder. Contraception is perversion. So is porn.”

The ENS announced remarks were,
“Brantly has been a valued team member of TNL for the past three years. However, as a team, we felt that his position with TNL is no longer tenable.
“Many of you were hurt by Brantly’s comments over the past 24 hours, and we strongly believe that ENS should be an inclusive community. Going forward we’ll continue to do everything we can to ensure that remains the case.”
After all the public backlash and ENS community reservations, Millegan still hasn’t apologized. According to him, he made his statement due to his core religious beliefs. The former ENS member claimed his beliefs again on Discord, stating he is open-minded and has a diverse social circle.
Millegan’s Thoughts

According to him, the Web3 space should also have the religious factor. Any religious group such as Muslims, Jews, or Christians should not be expelled to participate in Web3. the expert shared that he has received a lot of support for his tweet for holding on to his religious sentiments.

There were multiple votes in the favor to remove Brantley from his position as a director. There are a lot of dimensions to what happened with Brantley. Many assume that it’s because the “cancel culture” dragged this old issue to the limelight and drew backlash.
It is now being, indicated that Brantley might be removed from DAO’s corresponding legal rank. However, there were some tweets in favor of Brantley stating how he is an asset to the team. On the other hand, Brantley still hasn’t made any remarks on development and his take on this stripping world away thing by ENS.
Concluding Remarks
Freedom of expression is important and especially in the era of advancement. People should also find a way to deal with the cancel culture that spied upon successful people and dig out their previous mistakes. This will not only improve Web3 but will also encourage others to speak what they think will seem to contribute enough for us all.
