Crypto.com, a famous NFT platform partners with the Kpop entertainment agency of Astro, actor Cha Eunwoo, Weki Meki, and more, Fantagio to debut the first solo female Kpop idol on the metaverse on August 11, 2022, according to Sports Kyunghang.
“Meta Miu,” South Korea’s first-ever female prototype designed solely for the metaverse, will release its debut song “Uptown Boy” NFT music collection.
Kpop seems to be finally entering the metaverse space as well. The popularity of Kpop had existed since the early 2010s when PSY’s Gangnam Style blasted off on almost every street worldwide. But Kpop came into the mainstream when BTS rose to fame in 2016 and now some of the top-selling Kpop bands such as Blackpink, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, TXT, and many more dominate the US charts.
Kpop is widely known for exploring different genres and futuristic themes in its music videos and concepts. Metaverse is a perfect industry that fits the overall concept of Kpop, making it a big possibility that many Kpop companies will adopt this virtual world.
NFTs have already become the talk of the town among these companies with HYBE, the management company of BTS, signing a contract with Dunamu to release NFT initiatives on Levvels this year.
Now, the Kpop entertainment agency, Fantagio is taking the first step into the metaverse by debuting a female prototype solo Kpop idol for the metaverse.
“Meta Miu”: Metaverse’s Kpop idol
“Meta Miu” is basically an idol project co-produced by Felix and Fantagio. Crypto.com partnered with Fantagio to give the company a platform to showcase their Kpop idol in the metaverse.
The designer behind Miu is Felix (BAYC #8169) who is also the Chief Producer at Fellaz, a Web3 NFT ecosystem for entertainment companies. His background experience with NFTs and entertainment has motivated him to lead the industry in the metaverse to create Entertainment 3.0.
Meta Miu to debut solo “Uptown Boy” music NFT collection
Meta Miu will be debuting by dropping the first solo co-produced by Fantagio and Felix called “Uptown Boy” music NFT collection. The song is an introduction to Miu and a beginning of her journey in the metaverse.
“Born in Seoul, Miu has been roaming the underground metro as part of the colony of cats that lived in Gangnam Station. One day she decides to hop on a train in hopes of becoming a star,” the official website reads.
In other words, Miu is basically a cat who becomes a Kpop idol in the metaverse. It is an interesting story that explores various themes.
Additionally, since the song is a music NFT collection, people who buy the whole music video NFT or complete parts of NFT can claim Miu Lightstick NFT on Fellaz.xyz, which is a subscription to various benefits and content.
However, the ownership aspect of NFTs is different from the usual projects. The buyers can only own the NFT and use them for non-commercial purposes, the copyrights to the music video and the song will remain under the company.
Where to buy Uptown Boy NFTs?
Uptown Boy music NFT collection will be available for sale on Crypto.com. The partnership between Crypto.com and Fantagio exists to utilize the global platform in order to make Miu known to the world.
Following the metaverse-based Kpop idol’s successful debut, Fantagio plans to initiate more projects in the NFT space in the coming months.
“We have signed a business agreement with Crypto.com for NFT collaboration. We will step into the NFT market as soon as possible through collaboration with Crypto.com,” said Fantagio’s representative.
