Eden Games joins Animoca Brand as an acquisition. The French gaming studio plans on releasing a new series of blockchain-based racing games and will also help in developing Animoca’s NFT games in the REVV motorsport ecosystem.
The gaming studio was previously part of Atari that shut Eden Games down to avoid losses. Later, it opened up as an independent studio after Atari went bankrupt.
Seeing the huge potential and past experiences in the gaming industry, Animoca Brands took the opportunity to acquire Eden Games for $16 million.
The French studio has already developed many racing games like Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, Test Drive, F1 Mobile Racing, and V-Rally, so they can help Animoca improve the REVV motorsport ecosystem. According to sources, Eden Games will develop an NFT-based racing game.
The company believes Eden Games can help it recover from the loss following its recent suspension of the F1 Delta Time, a Formula 1 game.
The co-founder of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu says, “Eden Games will enhance and accelerate the development of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem and add powerful value to the REVV community and the racing metaverse.”
Animoca’s main focus is to expand on Metaverse and Web3 through various decentralized and NFT projects. The racing series by Eden Games will showcase the company’s future plans to bring more users and players into the network.
The REVV motorsport ecosystem currently operates MotoGP: Ignition, Formula E: High Voltage, and Torque Drift. Each game is reward-based which gives a REVV token to the players.
With the increasing popularity of NFTs, Animoca plans to develop the ecosystem through NFT-powered games, and Eden Games is the perfect studio to kickstart this plan.
Head of the studio of Eden Games, David Nadal, says, “We are excited to start the next chapter of Eden Games by joining Animoca Brands. We look forward to producing new experiences that challenge the status quo within the motorsport genre and venture into new frontiers such as Web3 alongside a leader in the space.”
Eden Games will release its recently developing racing game through the REVV motorsport ecosystem as well. Animoca took this opportunity to compensate F1 Delta Time players, who were previously gifted with NFTs following the game’s shutdown.
Animoca Brands is a Hong Kong-based gaming software company and a subsidiary of The Sandbox, Blowfish Studios, and Grease Monkey Games. The company has a history of creating many blockchain-based games.
