According to a report by Business Today, Musk plans to launch the new AI startup to rival OpenAI, a research organization co-founded by Musk in 2015. OpenAI focuses on developing safe and beneficial AI, and its research has led to breakthroughs in areas such as natural language processing and reinforcement learning.
The report suggests that Musk has been unhappy with OpenAI’s progress and believes that the organization is not moving quickly enough to develop AGI. As a result, Musk has decided to start his own company to pursue this goal.

In 2019, he said in an interview that “If you create a super-intelligent AI that has its own goals and can recursively improve itself, then it could improve itself in a very short amount of time and we could be left with an outcome that we didn’t anticipate and couldn’t control.”
The rumors of Musk’s new AI startup come amid reports that he once insulted an OpenAI intern who questioned his decision to pursue AGI technology at Tesla. According to Business Insider, Musk allegedly told the intern, “You don’t know what you’re talking about” and dismissed his concerns.
