National Geographic is partnering with Snowcrash, an NFT platform, to debut its Genesis NFT collection called “GM: Daybreak Around the World” in collaboration with 16 photographers and artists on January 17, 2023, to celebrate its 135th anniversary.
National Geographic Media, a famous publisher, is honoring its long legacy by bringing together its photographers and digital artists to submit their works on “daybreak.” These works will be turned into NFT technology by Snowcrash available for mint for collectors.
The GM: Daybreak Around the World Genesis NFT collection will feature 1,888 NFTs, which is the year the media publisher was founded by Alexander Graham Bell, Gardiner Greene Hubbard, Gilbert Thompson, and many more as a non-profit organization.
Each of these Polygon-based NFTs will have 118 editions minted on Snowcrash where users can purchase using debit/credit cards or cryptocurrency, enabling non-crypto fans to own collectibles on the blockchain.
“It is every photographer’s dream to shoot for National Geographic and it’s exciting that through blockchain and NFTs, I am now able to showcase my photography and artwork with Nat Geo,” artist Justin Aversano said. His work A Good Morning at the top of Mt. Sinai NFT will be featured in the collection.
Another prominent artwork from this collection is Aaron Huey’s “Sunrise In The Void” inspired by the metaverse.
All in all, each collectible will narrate a unique story and experience of the creator behind it. Some are new to the NFT space while others have already dropped their own collections.
