Fans can now trade their favorite celebrity trading cards online! OnlyFans founder, Tim Stokely, and former executive, RJ Phillips along with a team of Web3 experts and developers announced the launch of Zoop, a celebrity trading card NFT marketplace powered by Polygon Studios.
The trading card aims to bring together celebrities, influencers, and other famous figures to connect and interact with their fans through NFTs. The first batch of Priority Pass is already available to mint.
OnlyFans is a content subscription platform where only the subscribed users or “fans” can access the content and fund the creators as a community. This idea is somewhat similar to how Web3 ecosystems work for NFT projects. Anyone who buys an NFT from a collection becomes part of the community and interacts with other members around the world.
As NFTs and digital collectibles rose in popularity since last year, pop culture is slowly adapting to the new technology. Many celebrities have launched their own NFT collections for fans that sold for millions of dollars worth.
In response to this, Tim Stokely and RJ Phillips formed a professional Web3 team to launch a trading card NFT platform called “Zoop” to bring celebrities and influencers into the NFT industry.
How does Zoop work?
Zoop is basically a decentralized NFT marketplace where people can buy, sell, and trade trading cards. Like digital art NFTs, these NFT cards hold a digital value and can become valuable assets for fans to own.
As the Co-CEOs of Zoop, Stokely and Philips want to create a platform where fans can finally unite and interact without any third-party involvement. The platform is not only limited to celebrities but brands can also launch their very own trading cards for the fans.
“Zoop is the trusted home for authentic celebrity card drops, enabling all fans, regardless of their technical expertise, to participate in the web3.0 space,” says Cofounder, RJ Philips.
According to him, Zoop will provide the following facilities:
- Buying trading cards via a Dutch auction process
- Collect-to-connect with celebrities
- Show off their trading cards to others
- Become part of the community and earn rewards for interacting with other members
Fans will own an officially licensed celebrity digital card and have full ownership of it. The digital cards will hold a monetary value and can be sold on the Zoop Secondary Market. For more information on how to trade on the Zoop marketplace, click here.
Zoop is truly a “win for celebrities” to grow their audience and hold on to their fans for a long time. Seeing so much competition in popularity in pop culture, celebrities tend to be short-lived but if they have a platform they can leave a legacy behind in the world.
When will Zoop launch?
Zoop is expected to launch this summer under the leadership of Stokely and Philips to make this project a success. Zoop has already licensed a few celebrities because of their collaboration with media partners.
Zoop will launch its first project in the summer with 500 cards for each influencer. These cards will go on sale through a Dutch auction process.
Currently, Zoop has launched Priority Pass for users to mint. Through the pass, holders can get the pre-launch facility to mint their favorite influencer trading card earlier than others. These passes will be launched in three batches with a total limited quantity of 35,000, after which Zoop will stop producing passes. Get the first batch of Priority Pass at mint.zoopcards.com. The minting price is 0.074 ETH, around $150.
Priority Pass benefits
Other than providing pre-launch benefits, these Priority Passes hold much more value as they give access to various things:
- Voting rights on its Web3 ecosystem
- Ticket to exclusive online and offline events
- XP boost within the ecosystem
- Access to Private Discord Channel
- Monthly Giveaways
- Special mint with partner artists
- No trading fees
- Bonus rewards
Zoop also announced a Celebrity program which is divided into two categories: referral and revenue. In Referral, users can become brand ambassadors. Every user who has an account on Zoop has a unique referral code that they can promote on their social media accounts. Every time someone uses a link to join Zoop, the user will receive incentives.
In Revenue, celebrities can make use of their social media presence to promote their cards and receive incentives based on the number of cards sold. Celebrities can apply for an official partnership with Zoop through the official link here.
Polygon Studios backs Zoop
Zoop is part of the blockchain gamification market worth $40 billion in 2021 and is expected to grow to $147 billion by 2026. Seeing the worth of Zoop, Polygon Studios announced it will support Zoop as a trading platform.
Zoop will operate on the Polygon blockchain and benefit from the various unique features it offers such as low transaction fees and high transaction speed. According to Zoop developers, Polygon is the perfect network that aligns well with the project’s goals.
The COO of Polygon Studios, Michael Blank, says, “We’re delighted to be working with the Zoop team as they build out their platform on Polygon. Zoop aligns with our mission to bring Web3 technologies to a much broader demographic, and allowing fans to connect to their favorite celebrities via Polygon is another step towards this goal.”
Zoop has already gained much attention from the Web3 community. With famous entrepreneurs like Stokley and Philips involved, Zoop is expected to become a leading NFT marketplace for celebrities and fans.
The team behind Zoop announced it will partner with many famous celebrities to showcase its message and talent through the platform. Since trading cards have always been in-demand items among fans, Zoop will surely see a burst of fans soon.
As of now, Zoop is yet to announce influencers and celebrities involved for its first project drop. Since Zoop will officially launch this summer, the team will surely share the names in the upcoming weeks.
