After the NBA, the Premier League is taking the Web3 initiatives that involve collecting trading cards and having real-world utility.
Sorare is a famous platform having around 3M users worldwide. The football game has an interesting design and structure where players play by five a side.
The NFTs are in the form of trading cards sold on the Sorare marketplace. However, unlike NBA Top Shot, it involves gameplay utility.
Players can either buy expensive cards or upgrade their lower ones by winning games. The performance and win of any team depend on the live stats of each player.
The platform has collaborated with various football clubs to bring them on board in Web3. In September 2022, Liverpool extended its partnership with Sorare for the game seeing the increasing number of interest.
Sorare has managed to sign deals with the top three sports organizations: NBA, MLB, and now Premier League.
“As football fans ourselves, this partnership is something we’ve dreamt of since we founded the business,” Sorare CEO Nicolas Julia said in a press release. “We’re incredibly excited and can’t wait to see fans play with Premier League cards in our tournaments.”
With the English Premier League joining the bandwagon, more football fans are expected to join the platform to experience the fantasy NFT game built on the Ethereum blockchain.
