Nikhil Gopalani The COO of RTFKT, a Nike-acquired creator studio, just fell victim to a phishing attack costing him $200,000 worth of NFT loss.
The attackers drained his Clone X and other collectibles, leaving him with only “Clone X Theme Song” Death Row Records NFT.
Based on the Etherscan data of the attacker’s wallet, 19 Clone X avatars and other major NFTs have been stolen from Gopalani’s wallet.
He refused to share the details of how the attacker attacked because of legal purposes, stating that his explanation would hinder his legal agency’s work
The phishing attacks and manipulative schemes have gotten worse as months pass by. Recently, a hacker used 1-month long social engineering on Bored Ape holders just to steal them.
As the worth of these collectibles increases, more bad actors are most likely to emerge in the space. This is why educating the general public about the possible threats is important.
