The Seoul Metropolitan Government recently announced it will be opening “Metaverse Seoul” for the public.
The city Mayor Oh Se-hoon made the official announcement inviting citizens to enjoy the “inclusive administrative services” and experiences from other major sectors.
The metaverse will also include famous tourist spots, a fintech lab, a corporate support center, mentoring counseling room, and many other useful locations reimagined in a virtual setting.
People can simply log in and walk around with their avatars to enjoy the experience.
Metaverse Seoul was a long-term plan announced back in 2021 and even launched a pilot program to test the waters.
In January 2023, the virtual platform was finally open to the public.
Mayor Oh Se-hoon also shared that people can file civil complaints.
“Metaverse Seoul will be an important communication tool for citizens in the new normal,” he said.
Similar to Seoul, Hong Kong also launched its own virtual platform for eCommerce purposes, while Dubai is gearing up to unravel the ultimate real estate city in the metaverse in partnership with a major construction company.
