Startle Labs and Polygon Labs will be collaborating to launch the Ethereum Layer 2 Scaling Solution “ASTAR zkEVM” powered by Polygon.
ASTAR Founder Sota Watanabe and Polygon CEO Sandeep Nailwal took the KuCoin stage at TOKEN 2049 Singapore to make the announcement on 13 September 2023. NFTStudio24 attended the event as a media partner.

According to the announcement, Startle will be utilizing Polygon CDK (Polygon Chain Development Kit) which is based on zero-knowledge proof (zkp) to build ASTAR zkEVM. This collaboration aims to develop a new scaling solution platform on Ethereum Layer 2.
According to CEO Sota, ASTAR zkEVM features advanced processing power, scalability, UX, and security by utilizing zero-knowledge proof. It will operate on Layer 2 technology; an extension of Ethereum blockchain.
He further explained that L2 currently records the highest number of users. It also has the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) environment. Astar zkEVM will allow compatibility with different global Web3 tools. It will also provide mass adoption solutions such as gasless transactions and account abstraction.

Japan has been actively working on onboarding its major economy into Web3 technologies. ASTAR is one of the biggest Web3 infrastructures that has almost every blockchain-based Japanese companies onboard. The new platform is highly likely to benefit the businesses operating under ASTAR’s ecosystem to grow globally.
CEO Nailwal during his speech shared: “Polygon Labs is actually very globally based and when we go to Japan, ASTAR is the blockchain. I’m greatly impressed by Sota and ASTAR.”
Polygon with Startle will onboard and support Japanese companies in the Web3 market through Astar zkEVM. Both companies will work to promote the “social implementation of blockchain technology”.
