The Sandbox is on a massive metaverse adoption goal to build a themed metaverse based on major cities of the world, starting with Dubai, UAE. During the 62nd True Global Ventures Conference, The COO of Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, shared that the company will be introducing metaverse for Singapore, Korea, and Turkey.
Dubai is one of the early adopters of crypto, NFTs, and now metaverse. The city is on a mission to become the global digital hub and its local companies are actively participating to make this vision come to reality.
For metaverse, Dubai has already started building its own metaverse in partnership with a major Dubai-based real estate corporation, DAMAC Group. Now, it is entering The Sandbox’s virtual platform.
The Sandbox announces Dubaiverse
In The Sandbox, Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority bought a virtual land to build MetaHQ. The team shared that VARA was the “first client to purchase real estate on the Dubaiverse virtual map.” This attracted many local and international companies to join this project.
Now, The Sandbox is officially launching “Dubaiverse” by utilizing the same metaverse strategy for Hong Kong’s “Mega City”, a cultural hub and gaming metaverse focused on developing virtual capital for Hong Kong. After the success of Mega City, Animoca Brands, the parent company of The Sandbox, is now expanding its reach to other cities, starting with Dubai.
The Sandbox says Dubaiverse will be built through local collaborations with businesses from different industries including entertainment, gaming, real estate, financial services, etc. to build a virtual cultural hub that represents the city well.
Furthermore, Khaleej Times will become the official media partner for Dubaiverse which will contribute to helping local citizens enter the metaverse platform.
The Sandbox’s location-themed metaverse coming soon!
The Sandbox’s COO and co-founder, Sebastien Borget, shared that the metaverse platform along with Animoca Brands will be launching location-themed virtual worlds in major cities like Singapore, Korea, and Turkey.
Animoca Brands previously announced they received a $38 million investment from True Global Ventures, which is also established in Dubai, to help the creators build metaverse in different cities worldwide.
On the other hand, The Sandbox has been traveling around the world to promote the metaverse and virtual economy to the local citizens by attending various conferences. The announcement about the Dubaiverse was also made at the 62nd True Global Ventures Conference held on 15, September 2022.
As of now, no details about the Dubaiverse have been shared except the partnership with Khaleej Times. The metaverse by The Sandbox is probably in its development and bound to be launched by next year. Until then, Hong Kong’s Mega City is a good reference to know what Dubaiverse will look like.
