TIME, a world-renowned 99-year-old magazine, announced a partnership with The Sandbox to build a virtual Time Square on its metaverse platform. The official announcement was made at NFT NYC 2022 conference on June 21, 2022.

After the successful launch of TIMEPieces, an NFT community by TIME, the magazine is now taking a further step into the Web3 world by building NYC’s most popular spot on The Sandbox. TIME Magazine, which is widely known for its world-class publications, decided it was to finally enter the NFT space, seeing the surging popularity on the internet.
Despite the crypto winter, the NFT and Web3 community seem to be introducing more and more projects. Many believe this bear market won’t last for too long and will rise at some point this year.
The NFT NYC 2022 conference seems to be the living proof of it. Amidst the low traffic on NFT marketplaces and tanking prices, the community showed a huge response to the event with brands and well-known individuals flying from all over the world to attend.
TIME announces partnership with The Sandbox
During this event, TIMEPieces by TIME stepped out to announce it will be partnering with The Sandbox to build a virtual Times Square on the metaverse.
The NFT community seems to have already bought the virtual land in The Sandbox and is just readying itself to create a perfect copy of IRL Time Square on the metaverse.

TIME President, Keith Grossman attended the NFT NYC 2022 and made the official announcement. At the occasion, he said, “Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse. Since the launch of TIMESPieces, we have focused on developing a community in Web3 that benefited from the incredible 100-year legacy and access TIME has established.”
As of now, TIME has opened invitations for architects to submit their designs for the virtual Time Square that will host “virtual convening, art, and commerce.”
Mr. Grossman also shared that since TIMEPieces has already launched its own NFT collection. The NFT holders will have a chance to experience virtual access to various events, meetups, and official screenings of TIME Studio’s works hosted by TIME.
Final words
As of now, TIMEPieces hasn’t released any visual images of the idea behind virtual Time Square on Metaverse, probably because it is still looking for architects who can help them come up with an ideal design.
With the launch of TIME’s virtual land, NFT holders can expect more projects and collaborations incoming within the metaverse. TIME has a global connection with almost all leading entrepreneurs, businesspeople, artists, musicians, and other public figures. Therefore, it might lead the traditional industries into the metaverse.
As Kieran Warwick, the co-founder of metaverse game Illuvium says, “TIME doubled-down on their metaverse play by partnering with The Sandbox is massive news for anyone in the space. The sooner we are able to achieve mass adoption, the more well-known brands we will be able to transition to web 3.”
With The Sandbox partnership, TIME is ready to enter into the metaverse with its own virtual land. Previously, The Sandbox was named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies 2022.
