Artist Junji Ito to debut NFTs for his upcoming Netflix movie

Junji Ito, Japanese Manga Artist and Author, is debuting an NFT collection ‘TOMIE by Junji Ito’ for his upcoming Netflix horror movie “Junji Ito Maniac.” The sales begin in November 2022.

Tomie NFTs will feature a combination of manga cutouts from the original manga along with a unique colored artwork that represents the true art style and storytelling talent of the artist.

The NFT collection is also a collaboration between Lead Edge Consulting Co., Ltd. and Yomiuri TV Enterprise Co., Ltd. to create the perfect NFT from the digital art created and hand-drawn by Junji.

Junji’s manga collection has been quite popular among Japanese and international manga readers. Now, it is finally coming in the animation on Netflix scheduled for January 19, 2023.

The TOMIE by Junji Ito is the perfect NFT to collect for manga fans because the team will also airdrop programmable NFTs for the initial sale, a rare collectible in Japan.

The programmable NFTs will grow with time from a part of the body into a terrifying woman, just like the original one from Junji’s manga.

Following the announcement, many fans didn’t take the news quite well. The Twitter comments are filled with criticism of NFT scams and malware. Will the NFT project be successful?

As of now, only the dates of release and website are announced and the art itself might also change in the coming weeks. Nonetheless, the NFT collection is coming in November for all.

The NFTs will be minted on the Ethereum blockchain with a total supply of 2,222 collectibles on the official website:
