FC Barcelona’s ‘In A Way, Immortal’ NFT sold out for $693,000

In a recent press release, FC Barcelona announced its first-ever NFT ‘In A Way, Immortal’ sold out for $693,000, making it one of the biggest sales of 2022. The NFT was sold via an auction at Sotheby’s in New York that began on July 21 and ended on 29 July 2022.

FC Barecelona celebrates a big achievement in the NFT space as it sold its digital animated artwork NFT inspired by Johan Cruyff’s legendary goal on 22 December 1973.

The NFT was created in partnership with BCN Visuals, World of Johan Cruyff, and Digital Superstudio.

The buyer who bought the digital animated NFT also bought an additional 4 NFTs of the static images of the animated NFT captured in moments.

According to the team, the buyer will become the Barça Digital Ambassador with various VIP benefits and experiences with the Club.

“FC Barcelona will incorporate in the NFT’s smart contract a set of experiences such as Meet & Greets, visits to La Masia, hospitality rights (for a minimum of five years), the right to play at the Spotify Camp Nou, and an official handover of the ball before a friendly match,”  the statement reads.

Football is already seen as a big industry with a huge fanbase, and this shows that the fans are more than ready to accept NFTs as part of supporting their favorite teams.

Since this is the first 10 NFT collection by FC Barcelona, fans can expect more digital collectibles coming soon on the NFT marketplace.
