disallows blockchain technologies on its server

Minecraft, an exploration game, bans NFTs by disallowing blockchain technologies to integrate into their server applications. The creator of Minecraft, Mojang, says NFTs are only seen as investment speculation that would prevent the game’s long-term commitment to the players.

In a blog post, Mojang expressed that NFTs on Minecraft would open a gap between players over haves and have-nots. He believes the NFT industry is too speculative and drawn toward investment opportunities with digital collectibles instead of enjoying them.

Minecraft was previously bought by Microsoft for $2.5 billion and is one of the best-selling games in the world with $238 million in lifetime sale units.

According to the official blog post, NFTs don’t meet the values set on Minecraft.  “We have these rules to ensure that Minecraft remains a community where everyone has access to the same content. NFTs, however, can create models of scarcity and exclusion that conflict with our Guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft,”  the company stated.

The company also stated that it won’t support any blockchain technologies on its server applications and has collectively banned the idea of NFTs on the platform.

the company said.

“To ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside our Minecraft client and server applications nor may they be utilized to create NFTs associated with any in-game content,”

Mojang and Minecraft team seem quite headstrong with banning NFTs on the gaming platform.
