Today, on August 4, 2022, the co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, reported that The Sandbox’s official Instagram account has been hacked and is currently disabled. Sebastien warned users not to click on any suspicious links posted by the account.
He also shared that the team is working with Facebook to recover the account.
Later, Sebastien updated its followers on the hack and the team’s findings. According to him, the Instagram account has been disabled to save users from falling for any phishing attacks initiated by the hacker.
The Sandbox is a leading metaverse platform that enables users to build and monetize digital content. The platform was initially made as a game for players but the team wanted to revolutionize the aspect of gaming by expanding into the blockchain and metaverse world.
Based on the latest tweet, The Sandbox team is still in progress of getting hold of its account. Sebastien also shared a link to the hacker’s wallet address. The Sandbox team will definitely be able to track down the culprit and investigate them for causing the chaos.
The Sandbox team informed that no airdrop or surprise event is being held at the moment. Thus, any links posted by The Sandbox on any social media platform should be deemed suspicious at all costs.
