Gary Vaynerchuk is a chairman of the communication holding company, modern-day media, and VaynerX. He is also an active CEO of VaynerMedia which is a full-service advertising agency with 5 locations. The former wine blogger and media mogul Gary Vaynerchuk sold an elephant doodle for $412,500 at Christie on the 1st of October. It is one of the creative doodle templates from Vaynerchuk’s NFT collection. Moreover, his digital scans “VeeFriends” which are handwritten doodles have brought about $90 million in sales.
With a huge sale amount, his work just proved that paper drawing is still valuable in the digital world. He also sold Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, and more at Christie’s Auction in New York. Christie is a British Auction house, and its main premises are in Rockefeller Center in New York and Street, St James’s in London.
Empathetic Elephant:
The “empathetic elephant” is an outsold work by Jackson Pollock, Alice Neel, Andy Warhol, George Condo, and Wayne Thiebaud. It was part of the VeeFriends NFT collection by Gary Vaynerchuk. Moreover, these are sets of tokens tied to animal themes Ethereum Blockchain collectibles. The Postwar to Present auction also contains a drawing of Vaynerchuk’s named “Diamond Hands” and “Gratitude Gorillas”. These drawings are the symbol of the beginning of Gary Vaynerchuk’s NFT project. However, at that time, Christie was not a part of these NFT collectibles. There were only pen and ink doodles that he utilized as models for the image files.
Vaynerchuk’s Statement:
After his doodles outselling, Gary Vaynerchuk concluded that the outselling of his doodles was uncomfortable as well as humbling for so many prominent artists. So it was like an unpleasant and modest situation for them. In an interview with CoinDesk, he mentioned that it was an out-of-body experience. He concluded that I am happy because I am at this moment when the world is changing itself. He mentioned over the phone that I am from my background which is more important for me than hiring famous digital artists for collaborations. He further added:
“The project has another distinct element that other projects didn’t have. So you can imagine how I feel that the market agreed with the uniqueness of this element”.
Summing it up:
Gary Vaynerchuk has become a leading influencer in the NFT world after he launched VeeFriends in May. The lowest price list of VeeFriends remains above $50,000, and ONE37pm is one of his media properties. It is something that was a central part of NFT coverage. So the VeeFriends aims to be more than a source of speculation like any other major NFT collectibles. The idea behind it is when you buy a token, you are purchasing into a group. Christie’s auctioned off a set of thirty Curio Cards NFTs for $1.3 million or 393 ETH in a separate sale. Furthermore, Gary Vaynerchuk plans to host a conference entirely for token holders of VeeFriends.
