Polium, a company that builds Web3 gaming products and infrastructure, recently announced it will be launching the world’s first-ever Web3 gaming console, Polium One in 2024. The company released an official photo of the console that will operate in various blockchain networks and also support NFTs.
The web3 gaming industry is growing to become a valuable market for gamers. According to DappRadar, the Web3 games grew 2,000% popular last year with almost $2.5 billion in investments for blockchain gaming.
This huge figure comes from a sudden surge of P2E games in the blockchain industry that generated huge profits for players. Axie Infinity, which is now on the verge of decline, earned a record-breaking high motivating many other gaming developers to try out the new industry.
As many Web3-based games and NFTs take over the world, Polium is taking a new step into the blockchain world by introducing a gaming console. Currently, in the state of making, the company announced that Polium One will be officially released in 2024.
Polium One: A multichain gaming console
On July 3, Polium released an exclusive look at the upcoming multi-chain gaming console named Polium One.
The company announced the product will be launched in the 3rd quarter of 2024 and support various leading blockchains including, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, BNB Chain, Immutable X, Harmony, EOS, and WAX blockchains.
Polium One is going to be built with the latest technology that fits well with Web3 gaming. Users will be able to play, sell, trade, and buy by using the console on metaverse and blockchain.
Furthermore, the console will also have its own multi-chain wallet with its own native token ‘PLAY’ for trading, staking, swapping, and receiving tokens. According to the whitepaper released, the users will only be able to use the console when they sign in to the wallet to ensure security.
The whitepaper also included some specifications:
- 4K Ultra HD resolution
- 120 frames per second
- Fingerprint sensor
- Ray Tracing
More specifications will be added as the console takes its final shape.
Polium One will be available for those who mint Polium Pass. The holders will need to burn their Polium Pass to receive a Polium One console. Polium Passes will be 10,000 NFTs, so this means only 10,000 consoles will be distributed around the world.
People’s reactions to Polium One
As soon as Polium announced its gaming console launch, people had mixed reactions.
Many people expressed excitement while others showed indifference to this new product.
At first, many people pointed out that the logo on the console looked similar to Nintendo Gamecube’s logo. However, the company claimed that it didn’t copy the logo and that many companies have a similar logo. Polium also shared that a new logo was still in making.
Another Twitter user pointed out:
Surely, the Web3 gaming industry seems to still be under development. Polium shared that the company is contacting various Web3 game developers to integrate with the console.
According to the official Twitter account, Polium will release a proper roadmap for the console to ensure its authenticity and credibility among consumers. As of now, people haven’t shown much interest.
Will the console be successful?
Based on current reactions, no one seems to be interested in the console. This might be because the startup has failed to impress people.
Although the product is quiet and has the potential to become a hit, nothing can be said until the company releases an official roadmap for it.
